Final flight for DC10

Birmingham set to witness the end of a flying legend.

Birmingham Airport is set to mark a milestone in aviation history as the scene for the final passenger flights on one of the world’s most iconic aeroplanes. Biman International Airlines, who recently announced plans to fly from Birmingham to New York and Dhaka, are preparing to withdraw from service the world’s last operational passenger Douglas DC-10. 446 DC0s were built, the last coming off the production line at Long Beach, California in 1988

The surviving member of the fleet still in service will be making is final commercial flight on Thursday, February 20th when flight BG1015 takes to the skies at 08.30 from Dhaka en route to Birmingham. Operating via Kuwait this flight will arrive in Birmingham the same day at 16.20.

However, due to overwhelming response from aviation enthusiasts from around the world, Biman will operate scenic flights on the weekend of February 22nd-24th from Birmingham airport. The first flights to go on sale will operate on the Monday, February 24th at 09.00, 12.00 and 15.00 with a block time of an estimated one hour. If as expected, they sell out quickly Sunday February 23rd flights will be opened for the same times of 09.00, 12.00 and 1500. As these sell out Saturday flights at the same times will be opened up. Prices will be ₤150 for a window seat and ₤100 for an aisle seat.  For the last commercial flight ever on Monday February 24th at 15.00, prices have been set at ₤200/₤150. Just 152 of the 319 seats on the aircraft will be sold on this flight, meaning that all will be window or aisle seats.
