Rovers run out of Gas

Andy Munro watches Blues win at Bristol Rovers.

A disappointing first half had started well with Keshi Anderson continuing his fine form with a run and superbly taken shot curling into the far corner of the goal.

Unfortunately that was as good as it got for most of the match, with the Blues midfield unable to get to grips with a lively home side.

Leonard failed to take his chance to nail down a place and Willum Willumsson continued to be fairly anonymous. Of all the midfield, Iwata was the best but only in a half decent way.

Usually they would have been supported by an advancing back four but this time the defence had their hands full against an impressively lively opposition attack. To add to that Ethan Laird’s successful runs forward were negated by a solid Rovers defence. Even the usually dominant Christoph Klarer looked off his game as did fellow central defender Davies.

To be fair, Cochrane was decent as was keeper Ryan Allsop, who pulled off a couple of fine saves but it was a generally unimpressive showing despite Jay Stansfield’s late penalty, earned by the man himself.

However, Blues yet again found the will to secure three points on the back of a flat performance whilst their rivals dropped points.
