Andy Munro sees Blues draw at Reading.
This was never going to be an easy fixture, with Reading boasting an excellent home record and having the incentive of being just a few points away from the play offs.
Blues had to make a few changes, not least due to Jay Stansfield’s injury (hopefully a temporary aberration) and various other fitness issues. However, they still fielded a strong line-up although they were made to work hard by a lively home side.
In fairness Blues probably edged it but up front Lyndon Dykes reverted to type by missing an easy chance and when he came on, Alfie May tended to run around in ever-decreasing circles .
In fact the most effective forward was yet again Keshi Anderson, and if this sounds like a broken record, then fair play to a player who cost us nothing. Again Willum Willumsson was disappointing whilst Paik Seung-ho looked like he needed a well-earned rest. However, luckily his partner Tomoki Iwata, as usual, ploughed on to ensure Blues kept a foothold in the middle.
Ben ‘Sign him up’ Davies was yet again superb even when Christoph Klarer next to him was creaking a bit. Ethan Laird had one of his quieter games but a word for Ryan Allsop in goal, who quietly and efficiently went about his business, which incidentally included a cracking save.
It was probably a point gained rather than two lost but only time will tell.
