Another night of music and comedy after sold-out opening show.
A Laugh Supreme is back for its first show of 2025, on Friday 14th February at Birmingham’s intimate Eastside Jazz Club. The new club night, which launched in December with a sell-out opening night, mixes the best of stand-up comedy and jazz music.
Hosted by Alex Milner, top comedians Tal Davies and Michael May feature alongside house band Aidan Pope Quartet from Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in the relaxed surroundings of Birmingham’s only purpose-built jazz club.
BBC New Comedy Award regional finalist Tal Davies blends toe-curling anecdotes with observational humour. The Funny Women finalist and British Comedy of the Year semi-finalist has supported Milton Jones, Paul Chowdhry and Josh Pugh on tour.
Michael May is one of the most exciting comedians on the circuit and his warm and open style makes him a regular MC at leading clubs across the country. He’s written and directed Edinburgh Festival shows and supported multiple national tours.
A Laugh Supreme launched in December 2024 and revives a format that was hugely popular in the 60s and 70s where music and comedy regularly shared the stage. It takes its name from A Love Supreme, the seminal album by John Coltrane.
Alex Milner, curator and compere of A Laugh Supreme, says, “We’re so excited at the response to the first show that working on a series of shows with Royal Birmingham Conservatoire was an easy choice!
“The venue makes for a perfect evening of entertainment. We’re delighted Tal Davies and Michael May have agreed to join Aidan Pope and the band for the first show of 2025. Both are hilarious acts with the gravitas to help us hit the heights of the first show.”
A Laugh Supreme is at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire’s Eastside Jazz Club on Friday 14th February, from 6.45pm. Tickets £12, details here.
