Burton gone for one

Andy Munro watches Blues beat Burton Albion.

The visitors looked like a lost cause even playing a Blues side who themselves looked off the pace. Keeper Ryan Allsop was generally untroubled (although a couple of times Burton squandered decent opportunities) and in front of him both central defenders were solid enough. Out wide it was Ethan Laird and Alex Cochrane who starred, both solid defensively and major threats going forward.

In front of them, Tomoki Iwata drove the team forward but too often Blues seemed to prioritise keeping possession over quick, penetrating attacks. This made it difficult to pierce the opposition defence, who had time to get themselves organised and this is becoming a familiar tale with Blues as they struggle to break down the opposition defences of even mediocre teams.

In fairness, up front Willum Willumsson was fairly lively and more like his old self whilst Jay Stansfield worked hard and deserved his goal, albeit from the penalty. Keshi Anderson was again more than decent but it just took too long to work the ball forward at the pace needed.

However, on the plus side, we are still top of the league so the manager is obviously doing something right!
