New pilot programme from Girl Grind UK is as easy as ABC.
Girl Grind UK CIC are piloting a new programme titled Art Break Challenge (ABC) this August. ABC is presented in collaboration with the Duke of Edinburgh and Blackwell Adventure and is funded by United by 2022, the legacy charity from the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
The six month cultural project kickstarts with a weeklong residential at Blackwell Adventure which will see the first cohort of 25 teen girls aged 12 to 17 experience an array of creative workshops in music, dance and drama alongside essential life skills sessions covering financial well-being, active citizenship and healthy relationships.
Whilst at Blackwell Adventure participants will get involved with outdoor cooking, camping, hiking, canoeing, zip lining, archery and more with the whole programme aimed at harnessing the young people’s gifts, skills and talents.
The programme continues beyond the residential through 30 hours of guided volunteering helping the young people to define their role within their community as well as build confidence and experience for the future.
Namywa, CEO and Founder of Girl Grind UK said: “We are excited to be preparing to welcome our first cohort on the Art Break Challenge to Blackwell Adventure. ABC is part of Girl Grind’s Grownish division focused on empowering ambitious teens, we hope the activities planned for this week will support and inspire all those attending to think about their career aspirations, inspire them to try something new and build their confidence.”
