Mobilise Arts preview new family show

Just Be You heads to Worcester and Stratford.

Just Be You, a new musical family show, a collaboration between Mobilise Arts, a social engaged theatre company in Worcester and MAC’s Generation Q Collective, an LGBTQIA+ emerging artist company, is offering families the chance to see the show for free this August.

Just Be You previews at The Arches in Worcester (9th and 10th August) before heading to the Royal Shakespeare Company’s The Holloway Garden Theatre in Stratford (11th August).

Written and directed by Hannah Phillips, Just Be You explores themes of wellbeing, nature and identity featuring beautiful original music by Nik Haley and the musical direction by Rachel Jones. The audience will be transported to Fairyland where River played by Ebony Clarke needs your help to find their fairy wings and Gaia, the goddess of the Earth, played by Rachel Jones has an important message for us all about saving our planet.

Hannah Phillips, founder and producer of the No Outsiders Family Festival, the first ever LGBTQIA+ family festival and creator of The Fairy Dust Party said: “We are very excited to be heading to The Holloway Garden Theatre and to be part of the RSC’s Open Stage programme. It is wonderful that audiences can come and see this work in such a great outdoor venue for free. We are also delighted to be able to share this new piece of musical theatre with families at home in Worcester before we go.”

Hannah continued, “We all need to be seen and heard and loved for who we are. It is vital children see our diverse identities represented on stage, in books and TV and we reimagine how the world might be. Just Be You is full of beauty, joy and magic with important messages around love for ourselves, each other and our planet.”

Audiences are invited to come along, play some games and sing some songs with the funky non-binary fairies on skates – there is even a fairy dog! We encourage dressing up and glitter but feel free to come as you are.

The Worcester previews take place at The Arches on Friday 9th August at 3pm and Saturday 10th August at 12pm and 3pm. Tickets are limited so booking is on a first come, first served basis – all free – via: Jotform.

Just Be You heads to Stratford and the RSC’s The Holloway Garden Theatre on 11th August with a free performance at 1pm, booking is still required here.

Just Be You is suitable for the whole family but focused on children aged 3-11 years.
