Free author events at new independent book shop

The Heath Bookshop opening in Kings Heath.

Opening later this month, The Heath Bookshop is a new independent bookshop located in Kings Court, Kings Heath. The brain-child of book-lovers and friends Catherine Gale and Claire Dawes, The Heath Bookshop invites fellow book fans to the Opening Weekend from 9th–11th September.

The Opening Weekend will feature a series of free author meet and greets with Ruth Gilligan, Osman Yousefzada, Jess Phillips, R.M Francis (pictured) and Niall Griffiths. The weekend will culminate in a DJ set from Leftfoot DJs on Sunday 11th September, 4pm–8pm. Whilst all the events are free, booking is required for the author events (no booking required for DJ event) here.

The Heath Bookshop will be a place that welcomes everyone, offering a range of books in which the diverse local community can see themselves, providing a friendly atmosphere to sit in amongst books enjoying an espresso coffee (and some cake!), and a place to chat all things books and life.

Catherine and Claire commented: “We met through a love of books and a desire to be around lots of them every day. Kings Court is the perfect location for our bookshop and we invite people to come and check us out before, during and after our Opening Weekend, to hang out amongst the books, drink coffee and get involved with some bookish chat!”

A number of renowned authors will join Catherine and Claire for The Heath Bookshop Opening Weekend talking about their work, reading from their books and of course meeting and signing books for attendees.
