Andy Munro has a look at Blues’ transfer window.
Blues didn’t do much on the last day but, in fairness, had done plenty of business previously. So how do the comings and goings rate?
Outgoings (Marks out of ten for a good deal)
Ivan Sanchez: Very talented player but often injured and his heart didn’t appear to be in it. Now loaned out with an option to buy. 7
Harley Dean: He’s been a decent servant but his time had run its course as he was slowing up and getting caught out. Loaned out to the Owls. 8 (Presuming they are paying his wages)
Dean Sandersen: We had no say in the matter but Menge is a more than adequate replacement. 7
Matica Sarkic: Sorry to see him go but now long-term injured so needed to return to Wolves. 8
Leo Dos Rios: Young, ex-Barca and was starting to score for the stiffs so don’t see the sense. 4
Caolan Boyd: He will probably be brilliant for Boro’ but never showed much for us. 7
Chuks Aneke: A bit like the honey monster in mobility but still a good option off the bench so sorry to see him go to Charlton, albeit for a fee. 4
Juan Castillo: Chelsea? You’re having a laugh. 9
Sam Cosgrove: Out on loan to the Wombles and the best place for him. A bit like Rodders from Only Fools, ith the same success rate. 9
Riley McGree: An undoubted talent and a big loss – but we couldn’t afford to buy him. 2
INCOMINGS
Lyle Taylor: Only a loan but a definite improvement up front. 8
Orial Hernandez: At last we have somebody with genuine pace although he’s only on loan. 9
Taylor Richards: Strange to sign an injured player on loan so the jury is out. 6
Juninho Bacuna: Looks tidy although no Chong, but early days. 7
Tunje Menje: Good loan signing, quick and mobile. 8
Mitch Roberts: An excellent young prospect interesting a number of Premier League clubs, so it made sense to sign him on a proper contract, and now out on loan. 8
All in all a good window with some dead wood gone. However, it will be interesting to see which loans become permanent at the end of the season for both incoming and outgoing players.
