Andy Munro watches Blues’ friendly with Albion.
Friendlies are supposedly meaningless, but nobody would choose to get hammered in one, particularly by near-neighbours. In fact, why Blues should choose a friendly against a team from the same division and only a few miles away is a mystery.
Interestingly, the stating line-up excluded all the new signings except Ryan Woods, who incidentally was one of the few to have a good game. Jonathan Leko was given a run out instead of Scott Hogan but failed to make any real impact.
Out wide Ivan Sanchez and Jeremie Bela had their moments, but it seems that one winger rather than two should provide a better balance.
However it is the defence that is the real worry with the ‘experienced’ back line looking cumbersome at times, particularly when Albion were running riot with four goals in the second half. Undoubtedly places beckon for Juan Castillo and Dion Sanderson even though “It was only a friendly”.
