The Birmingham Wine Staycation – the ultimate wine experience.
Pack your suitcase: the wine-retreat of your dreams is heading for Birmingham. The Wine Staycation will blend the finest wines, expert sommeliers, and stunning food pairings, for a full-bodied event that is set to be unmissable.
Taking place on Saturday 17th October, the experience will feature an overnight stay at the iconic Rotunda in Staying Cool’s stunning serviced apartments. As they take in the panoramic views of the city, guests will be invited to sit back, relax, and un-wine-d for the evening.
Joining them live from the venue’s Penthouse via Zoom will be wine-aficionado Tony Elvin, of The Wine Events Company, and also dialling in will be the renowned Nigel Wilkinson, who is one of only 269 Master Sommeliers in the world. As well as working for the esteemed Boutinot wines, Nigel is one of the judges for the Decanter World Wine Awards, and will be serving his unrivalled expertise alongside Tony.
Each room will have hand-picked premium wines – including a perfectly-chilled glass of Grand Cru Champagne – and perfectly-paired cheeses by independent wine bar Arch 13 delivered direct to their door, while the expert duo lead a live and interactive guided-tasting, exclusively for those at the Rotunda. Brimming with juicy tasting notes, unusual wine facts, and exclusive anecdotes, the virtual tasting will be overflowing with interactive fun; perfect for wine novices and specialists alike.
Brought to you by Birmingham festival organisers, Living for the Weekend – the brains behind Birmingham Cocktail Weekend and Birmingham Wine Weekend – this latest event is designed to bottle up all the best bits of the much-loved BWW.
Alex Nicholson-Evans, founder of Living for the Weekend, commented: “The Wine Staycation is the most exclusive event we’ve ever held, it will be an experience like no other. Not only will it celebrate some fantastic premium wines, but it brings together wine-lovers in a way that is personal and interactive, while remaining socially distant, in a fantastic location with fellow independent operator, Staying Cool.
“The year has been challenging – to say the least! – and we were heartbroken to have to cancel Birmingham Wine Weekend and Birmingham Cocktail Weekend, and to postpone the launch of Birmingham Restaurant Festival. However, I truly hope that after a tough few months this event, shaped around government guidance, will give our wine lovers some much needed fun!”
Bookings for The Wine Staycation are now open, with prices from £150pp. To book your spot, email [email protected] or click here.
