Funding available to help local residents.
As the pandemic continues to impact life across the constituency bosses at Erdington Neighbourhood Network Scheme want to hear from groups who could provide vital services for the over-50s.
Since the launch of Erdington NNS last September more than a dozen groups have received funding to deliver activities and provision which help reduce isolation and boost wellbeing among the district’s older generation. But with the social distancing regulations imposed around Coronavirus and venues having to close their doors because of the outbreak, there is concern that residents who are vulnerable and in need of help are not being reached.
Debbie Bates is the Health and Wellbeing Lead at Witton Lodge Community Association, founding partner of Erdington NNS working together with Compass Support. She said: “Groups are invited to apply for funding to establish activities and support services which benefit the health and wellbeing of older people living in Erdington.
“In addition to these services, gaps have been identified in activities and provision in a few specific areas where urgent support is needed. We are appealing for organisations who could deliver COVID19 support services and invite organisations who are able to help, especially with the areas identified below, to get in contact and apply.”
The organisers are particularly keen to hear from organisations who could provide support on any of the following:
– Health, wellbeing and advice services
– Bereavement and associated support
– Support for those experiencing domestic violence
– Projects that tackle anti-social behaviour and its effects
– Infrastructure and support services in Gravelly Hill and Pype Hayes wards
Small and micro grants up to £2,000 are available while for larger projects, up to £10,000 can be applied for.
