Birmingham festivities ready for final frantic fortnight.
Transforming the Suffolk Street Queensway underpass into a magical winter wonderland, Christmas at City Social is turning festivities up a notch for its final fortnight. With chalet stalls selling everything from winter warmers, handmade crafts, and tasty treats, City Social will be getting guests even more into the spirit, with live music performances and Sunday film screenings.
City Social made its grand return this year after its successful debut in 2017. Once again, it has proven immensely popular with those living in, working in, and visiting Brum this year. Over 100,000 people have joined in the festivities this year and organisers are estimating that another 50,000 will visit before it closes on 22nde December.
Emma Jones and Mark Jones from AllinAll Events Hospitality, the company that brought City Social to life, is ecstatic with the success so far. Emma comments: “We’re absolutely over the moon with just how successful this year’s Christmas at City Social has been so far! The response has been amazing and everyone that has visited so far has been so supportive of what we’re trying to achieve. I’m really looking forward to making it even more festive, with seasonal sing-a-longs and screenings of everyone’s favourite Christmas films. It’s what Christmas is all about after all!”
Performers like Elegant Entertainment, House Jammerz and solo artists including Esther Turner and Johnny Allen will be in the spotlight on Thursday and Friday evenings and Saturday afternoons. Whether you’re a fan of soothing acoustic sets, cheesy Christmas hits, or chart-topping songs, all will have their moment on the City Social stage with performances right up until its final day.
Film fans passing by will also be pleased to know that the Christmas at City Social movie screenings include all the favourites. From Jingle All the Way and Home Alone to Frozen and the Muppets Christmas Carol, they are sure to get everyone, both young and old, ready for the holidays.
“Whether you’re heading for lunch or after work drinks, doing a spot of shopping, or just looking for somewhere to get in the spirit, Christmas at City Social is the perfect place to be. We look forward to welcoming many new faces, as well as our trusty regulars, to the City Social over the next two weeks,” added Emma.
Christmas at City Social has been home to a long list of food, drink and craft stalls including Randall’s, Posh Chips, Arepelo Venezuelan Street Kitchen, Gourmet Burger and Sausage Box, Italian Step, Punk Cards, a Bailey’s and mulled spirits stall, and a debut appearance for City Social this year, Roastie Toastie.
