Birmingham student to become dance teacher.
A student from Bournville College has fulfilled his dream by taking centre stage as a talented hip-hop dancer.
Ryan Treasure, who has studied Sports Studies Level 1,2 and 3 at the Longbridge Town Centre based campus, which is part of South & City College Birmingham, has been dancing since he was just five years old and believes that his experience at the college has helped him to unlock his true potential.
The 23 year-old, said: “My family are all dancers, so dance is something which comes naturally to me. My inspiration throughout my life has been Michael Jackson and I always wanted to pursue a career as a professional performer but had no idea how to achieve this.
“I’ve been lucky enough to have had some amazing teachers at Bournville College who have gone the extra mile to encourage me and put me on the right path to reach my goal.”
Ryan started dancing professionally in 2016 and has performed at many events including performing with Beatfreeks – a community in the heart of Birmingham made up of artists, entrepreneurs, designers and much more.
Mike Hopkins, Principal of Bournville College, commented: “Ryan is a very talented dancer who has inspired many of his peers with his performances, so much so that we have asked him to lead workshops for other students at the college. It is wonderful to see students who are so passionate about their subject turning their dreams for the future into reality.”
Ryan hopes to become a freelance dancer and dance teacher and is set to start teaching dance sessions at the new Northfield Leisure Centre from next month. For more information, visit www.sccb.ac.uk
