Same time, same place at the weekend.
The latest from Birmingham Jazz comes this Friday at 1,000 Trades in the Jewellery Quarter with the return of multi-instrumentalist Charlotte Glasson.
If you like your music to have lots of different instruments, fun, melodic and have great tunes then Charlotte and her band are for you. On this third visit to Birmingham Jazz, Charlotte brings her multi-instrument show touring a new set of work. 2018 sees the release of Charlotte’s new album Robots, inspired by a trip in South Africa in 2017.
Charlotte has written ten new tunes including Robots (the name South Africans give to traffic lights!), Bobo and the little Karoo and Cape Dreams. Fusing together South African flavours and Latin music, Charlotte and Chris Kibble create an exciting, uplifting sound.
Chris Kibble is a genius pianist who has worked extensively in the Latin Jazz scene in the UK – Snowboy, Pucho, The Latin Soul Brothers and King Salsa). Charlotte will also be playing tunes from her extensive back catalogue, demonstrating the full range of instruments and tools at her disposal.
Joining for this gig is long-time associate, the legendary Chris Spedding on guitar.
Friday 22nd June. 1,000 Trades, 16 Frederick Street, Birmingham, B1 3HE. Admission £12.50 (members £10, students £5).
