Bromsgrove arts centre provides holiday attractions.
October half term is nearly upon us and there’s plenty happening at Artrix to keep families busy during the time off school.
If the little ones fancy a trip to the cinema then why not try the feature length film Thomas & Friends: Journey Beyond Sodor on Tuesday 24th and Wednesday 25th October. Featuring the voice of Hugh Bonneville, Thomas The Tank Engine sets off on a big adventure to the mainland. Tickets for Family Cinema at Artrix are just £5 each and under 2s go free.
Families can experience a live stage adaptation of the much loved children’s book Hairy Maclary on Thursday 26th October. Featuring many of the characters from the books by Lynley Dodd, like Hercules Morse, as big as a Horse – Bottomley Potts, covered in spots – Schnitzel von Krumm, with the very low tum and Scarface Claw – the toughest tomcat in town. With music, singing and several of your favourite Hairy Maclary stories, this show is a must for the whole family.
The theatrical treats continue with the return of CBeebies duo Chris & Pui from Show Me Show Me with their live show on Saturday 28th October. This live stage show features the toys & characters from their hit TV programme along with songs, comedy sketches, a dash of magic and heaps of joining in. Audiences are encouraged to bring along their favourite toy too and expect an appearance from from Incy Wincy, Twinkle, Old MacDonald, Humpty and Granny Humpty.
To celebrate Halloween, Artrix presents a spooky themed Baby Rave on Saturday 29th October. This event is sold out, but audiences should keep their eyes peeled for more of these popular events in the New Year.
For teens and their families during half term, Artrix is showing the Royal Ballet Live’s screening of Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland on Monday 23rd October. Follow Alice down the rabbit hole in Christopher Wheeldon’s exuberant ballet, in a dark re-telling of Lewis Carroll’s much-loved book (rated 12A).
Looking forward to November, Artrix is pleased to present a beautiful stage production for pre-schoolers called Leaf on Saturday 5th November. Leaf tells the life story of a very special leaf in a warm, intimate and playful new piece for under 3s inspired by nature and the seasons. At the end of the performance, children are invited onto the stage to play among the leaves and explore a landscape created by the changing seasons.
On Sunday 26th November, older children and their families can battle it out in Wifi Wars, the World Record-Breaking live comedy game show where the entire audience play along, competing in a range of games, quizzes and challenges to win the show, and prizes.
Artrix provides a warm welcome and families can make the most of the facilities on offer, including a free soft play area for under threes, cafe, baby changing facilities and free and convenient parking.
Family tickets are available for selected performances. For further information on any of the events listed above or to book tickets visit www.artrix.co.uk or call Box Office on 01527 577330.
