“Check your journey and travel early”.
London Midland is reminding passengers to check before they travel in the run up to Christmas and the New Year.
Reduced timetables will be in operation on a number of routes on Christmas Eve (24th December). The frequency of some train services will reduce from 13.00 onwards. The last trains from major towns and cities are often very busy so London Midland is advising passengers to travel earlier where possible.
In addition, Network Rail is carrying out improvement works on December 27th affecting train services between Rugby and Stafford.
London Midland commercial director, Richard Brooks, said “We don’t want anyone to get left behind, so the advice is check before you travel, as many last train services will depart earlier than usual. Where possible, consider leaving earlier, as we expect the last trains of the day to be very busy.”
There will also be changes to ticket restricvtions on London Midland trains. Generally, normal travel restrictions will apply to all tickets between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. However, customers with Off-Peak and Off-Peak Day tickets will be allowed to travel in the evening peak in this period (morning peak restrictions will still apply).
On Monday 28th December & New Year’s Day (Bank Holidays), all Off-Peak and Off-Peak Day tickets will be valid on any train for the journey stated on the ticket.
Restrictions will remain in place for tickets marked ‘London Midland Only’ (Off-Peak, Super Off-Peak & Advance) during the Christmas Period.
