The project has been developed by residents in partnership with Black Country Make CIC, West Midlands Police, Wolverhampton City Council, Wolves Community Trust, West Midlands Fire Service, the BeActive Partnership and the national charity, Youth Charter for Sport.

Heath Town Community Hub is housed across three shops and is space for residents to tell stories, share technology and improve their mental and physical wellbeing through a re-fitted yoga centre. Developed by the community, architect Jez Monk-Hawksworth, through Black Country Make CIC, has worked with residents to make the Hub a reality.
Developed by 27 founding members, all now in paid employment, Heath Town Community Hub has 478 members reflecting each of the 36 different nationalities in Heath Town. At the newly re-fitted space these members can access a photography dark room, computers, 3D printing, laser cutting and digital manufacturing and participate in yoga classes from mixed groups to closed sessions for Muslim women.

It is fantastic to see that the resident’s hard work and commitment has created a centre that is genuinely providing local opportunities for local people.”

In a 2016 Olympic and Paralympic year, this is an excellent example of the Youth Charter’s Community Campus project, which aims to engage, equip and empower a young people and wider community legacy opportunity for all. This is the first step of this Campus being realised.”
