Beyond the Fringe

A slice of Edinburgh at The Old Rep.

Can’t make it to the Edinburgh Fringe this year? No need to worry! After a season of sell-out comedy, The Old Rep are bringing a slice of Edinburgh to Birmingham. This July, the Station Street theatre host three of the Edinburgh Fringe’s most in-demand acts: Ben Hanlin (8th July), Zoe Lyons (9th July) and Ed Gamble (16th July). With tickets starting from as little as £8, this is a fantastic opportunity to see brand new material from some brilliant upcoming comedians.

Ben Hanlin, best known for presenting ITV’s award-winning Tricked, is one of the youngest members of the Magic Circle and has performed his cheeky brand of magic for the likes of Kim Kardashian, David Haye and Lethal Bizzle. Ben Hanlin previews his brand new show Trickhead at The Old Rep on Friday 8th July, 8pm before he takes his debut show to Edinburgh this summer. Proving that magic can be both jaw dropping and laugh out loud funny, Trickhead is playful, fresh and will leave you mind boggled.

Having just finished her second UK tour, Zoe Lyon’s trademark high energy, brilliantly observed routines and sharply written material has left her with an ever-growing fan base. Following her successful 2015 tour Mustard Cutter, Zoe is taking to the road in 2016 with a brand new show. Enjoy her “proper laugh out loud one-liners” (The Herald) as she previews her brand new show Little Misfits at The Old Rep on Saturday 9th July, 8pm.

Stand-up comedian and writer Ed Gamble, as seen on Mock the Week with the likes of Romesh Ranganathan (who performed a sell-out show earlier this year at The Old Rep), joins this Edinburgh preview line up. He most recently starred in BBC America’s Almost Royal, a “cult US hit” (The Independent), which is soon returning to the screens for a second season. Ed Gamble closes The Old Rep’s preview season with his brand new show Stampede on Saturday 16th July, 8pm.

Executive Director of The Old Rep, Chris Sudworth, said: “We are delighted to be hosting these high quality Edinburgh preview shows. I am tremendously proud to have put The Old Rep on the map as one of the leading comedy destinations in Birmingham after a year of successful comedy shows.”
