Chinese community to mark celebration with charity event.
The Chinese Community Centre – Birmingham is inviting businesses and locals to join them at their black tie dinner event to celebrate their 40th anniversary.
On the 7th June 2016, Chinese Community Centre – Birmingham will be hosting a celebratory Dinner at the Holte Suite, Villa Park, Birmingham to mark the momentous milestone. As well as a four course Chinese banquet, attendees can enjoy an evening of entertainment including a performance by 2015 UK Pole Professional Championships winner Claire Cotterill. There will also be a charity auction and raffle on the night in support of the CCC-B and Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice, a local charity which provides care and support for people with terminal illnesses and their families.
From its humble beginnings as a small desk in a Sparkbrook office, CCC-B was officially founded in 1977 to assist the newly established Chinese community in settling and becoming a part of Birmingham. Helping to bridge cultural gaps and offering personal services, CCC-B has grown from strength to strength. Now situated in Digbeth, it is a hub of activity which frequently plays host to various cultural performances, celebrations and events for all groups in the community.
Dr Yeow Poon, CCC-B Chairman, contemplates the organisation’s achievements: “Over the past 40 years, the Chinese Community Centre has delivered services to support the well-being of the elderly, carers and other vulnerable groups primarily amongst Chinese people in Birmingham. For the next 40 years, we will continue not only to serve the Chinese community but also collaborate with other community groups for a more prosperous, inclusive and vibrant Birmingham.”
Working in partnership with the CCC-B in this celebration is Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice based in Selly Oak. Community Fundraising Manager Oliver Hiscoe said, “We are delighted to have been chosen by Chinese Community Centre – Birmingham as a charity partner for their Ruby Anniversary celebrations. This partnership is a fantastic opportunity for the Hospice to raise awareness of our work and to further reach out to the local Chinese community. It’s a real privilege to be able to work with the CCC-B and we’re looking forward to helping raise funds with them on what promises to be a great evening.”
Tickets for the anniversary dinner are just £40.00 per person or £400 for a table of ten. Limited VIP tickets are also available for £65.00 per person which includes an exclusive champagne reception starting at 6.30pm.
