Get on your Brompton Bike at Brindleyplace

Cycling initiative for city centre venue.

Brindleyplace has been awarded Gold Top Cycling Location by Birmingham City Council following a number of cycling improvements to the estate; one of only three places in Birmingham to receive the accreditation.

Part of the Bike North Birmingham project, the Top Cycle Location initiative aims to improve cycling facilities provided by Birmingham businesses.

The most significant improvement that Brindleyplace has made to its cycling facilities is the addition of national folding bike hire scheme, Brompton Docks, which fully launched last week. Overall, more than £10,000 has been invested into cycling initiatives at Brindleyplace, including improving canal towpaths, existing cycle ways and significantly increasing the capacity for bike storage with the installation of new sheltered bike racks.

Alex Perrins, Marketing Executive at Brindleyplace, said: “We’re delighted to have been awarded Gold Top Cycling Location at Brindleyplace. The green credentials of the estate have always been a top priority for us so it’s great to see all the hard work that goes on behind the scenes recognised. As part of the Brindleyplace Cycle Initiative, not only have we increased the capacity for bike storage overall, we’ve improved cycle routes across the estate, launched the Brindleyplace Bicycle User Group and, most recently, introduced Brompton Docks.

“As the weather gets warmer, and with all the new cycling facilities now in place, we’re encouraging professionals across the estate to get on a bike at Brindleyplace.”

Helping to connect the city, Brindleyplace is home to the fourth Brompton Dock to be installed in Birmingham, and currently has eight of Brompton’s iconic folding bikes available for hire, which can be used from just £2.50 a day.

Matt Long, Director at Colliers International joint agent for Brindleyplace, said: “Brompton Docks is a great addition to Brindleyplace and offers tenants an alternative to the traditional commute. What’s more, by getting on a Brompton bike at Brindleyplace, tenants can cycle to either Moor Street or Snow Hill train station in under ten minutes, strengthening the estate’s link to the wider city and beyond.”
