If it snows – check on your neighbours.
With temperatures dropping and a forecast for potential snow early next week, Birmingham health boss Cllr Paulette Hamilton has urged Brummies to keep an eye on elderly and vulnerable neighbours.
The first snows of winter are anticipated for Monday/Tuesday, with a forecast for overnight sub-zero temperatures through to the end of the week.
And that has prompted Cllr Hamilton’s request that people check on older neighbours or relatives to make sure they’re safe and well.
She said: “We’re not expecting a big freeze or anything like that but we know the colder weather can be bad news for older people – not just in terms of heating and eating but also in terms of isolation.
“So I’d like to ask people to check up on older neighbours and relatives, Give them a call or pop in for a cup of tea. Make sure they’re okay and have everything they need. It might only be five minutes out of your day but it could make a massive difference to someone who can’t get out in the colder weather.”
