Business Blossoms at Abbey.
Abbey College Birmingham has strengthened its business department and appointed a new head of Business, Economics, Accounting and ICT.
Andrew Teviotdale, (38), from Lichfield Road, Hopwas, has 12 years of experience working in the business departments of various schools and colleges. He will bring his wealth of knowledge to benefit staff and students at the college.
In his new position Andrew takes a leadership role where he will maximise the impact of the Business and Economics department, introduce and develop the new Business and Economics GCSE and GCE courses and oversee the development of departmental staff.
Andrew commented: “From the moment I started everyone has been incredibly helpful and allowed me to settle into this new environment.
“Abbey College Birmingham is very different to grammar schools that I have previously worked for, as it is a unique and fast-moving college.”
Already, Andrew has introduced a number of exciting incentives to get students thinking with a business mind. He arranged a trip to the financial district in New York to give the students some real world understanding and he has many more stimulating trips planned. Previously, Andrew worked in the business department in other schools and prior to his educational work he was the Business and Finance Manager in a bank. But Andrew wanted to enrich the minds of the younger generation, which he was not able to do at a bank, so he moved to the education sector where his passion lies.
Abbey College Birmingham Principal Stephen Robinson, said: “It is a pleasure to welcome Andrew to the team. His expertise and experience will be utilised to the maximum here and he will fit in well. I look forward to supporting his development of the business department in the future.”
