Hilton Garden Inn announces Heart Research UK as its chosen charity.
The Birmingham-based Heart Research UK charity was named as the Hilton Garden Inn hotel’s charity of the year at an event on Thursday 26th February, which not only saw the local business community and patrons of the worthwhile fund-raising charity rub shoulders, but proved there is a definite art to networking, as the hotel unveiled artworks by Sue Howells, who is a local watercolourist and avid supporter of the charity. Her painting Helping Little Hearts took pride of place amongst the collection, which will be on display at the hotel throughout the Spring.
Heart Research UK was founded in 1968 by heart surgeon, David Watson MBE, after he grew tired of delivering bad news without solution to patients. After years of working to improve the lives of those living with heart disease, as well as prevent it, Heart Research UK have now started working with Birmingham Children’s Hospital researching ways to improve rehabilitation care after children leave the hospital. This crucial research improves the lives of children suffering heart disease and also helps to support the parents and carers of these children once they leave hospital.
Hilton Garden Inn, Birmingham were proud to announce Heart Research UK as their chosen charity, supporting them and their work with Birmingham Children’s Hospital. Nicola Underhill, General Manager, commented: “This is an exceptional local charity and one we are hugely proud to support. Heart Disease is a cause very close to us all, sadly, so it’s our professional and personal aim at Hilton Garden Inn to help raise much-needed funds and awareness of the charity throughout 2015. We have some exciting ideas in the pipeline – not least the upcoming Great Birmingham Run and DragonBoat race, both of which will have members of the hotel team competing and raising funds for Heart Research UK”.
