Drama students learn from acting masterclass.
Students at Solihull School got a taste of the West End when stage star Adam Linstead visited their theatre to deliver a masterclass to budding thespians.
Now in his fourth year with Les Miserables, Adam plays the roles of Grantaire and the Bishop of Digne to packed audiences at the Queen’s Theatre eight times a week. With Solihull School performing its own rendition of the show next month, Adam was able to offer advice to all those involved.
Key elements of the workshop included running through the warm-ups carried out by the London cast before every performance, staging large group number At the End of the Day, and working with some of the principal students to make sense of the messages that should be conveyed in the production.
Lisa Fair, assistant head at Solihull School, said: “We’re extremely grateful to Adam for giving up his time to visit our pupils, all of whom are working incredibly hard to ensure that their performance of Les Miserables is of the standard you would expect from a professional production.
“The workshop proved to be invaluable to all involved and we look forward to welcoming guests to enjoy the production.”
Performances of Les Miserables will take place from Tuesday 17 to Saturday 21 March at 7pm. Tickets are available at the school’s main reception. For more information visit www.solsch.org.uk or call 0121 705 0958.
