Charity performance of legal play.
A cast of Birmingham lawyers will be bringing the crucially acclaimed play The Exonerated to the Birmingham Rep for one night only on Friday 6th February 2015. Written by Jessica Blank and Erik Jensen The Exonerated tells the true story of six innocent death row survivors who were released from prison after their convictions were overturned.
Produced by Jason M Hadden MBE together with the Birmingham Law Society, the play promises to challenge ideals of justice and fairness. This production is particularly relevant in the passionate and hot-headed debate over whether or not there should be a return to the death penalty. The evening will take audience members through the true stories of six people who had been wrongfully convicted of murder and other offences, placed on death row, and later exonerated and freed after serving varying years in prison.
The cast includes Birmingham judges, solicitors and barristers who are giving up their time to bring this play to Birmingham with all proceeds going to the Prince’s Trust. Tickets are £15 and can be purchased via the Birmingham Law Society Webpage www.birminghamlawsociety.co.uk
