Artrix events

A visit from Basil Brush is one of the highlights at Artrix during half-term week.

Basil brush

Basil Brush is a British institution and his cheeky, irreverent (Boom! Boom!) style made him a household name in the 1970s. Now the loveable fox is back on the road with his Full On Fox Tour and he will be performing at Artrix alongside Mr Stephen on Tuesday 17th February. Together they will take you on a journey of laughs, storytelling and song in a brand new family show packed with fun and excitement.

Artrix Cinema is also screening some family films to stave off any half term boredom. The NT Live (Encore) screening of Treasure Island features swordfights with swashbuckling pirates, a dangerous voyage and a treasure chest full of secrets.

Rose Byrne stars as Annie the little girl left in an orphanage as a baby. It’s been a hard knock life ever since with her mean foster mother Miss Hannigan (Cameron Diaz). But her luck changes when she’s taken in by the New York mayoral candidate who is seeking to soften his hard-nosed image.

Last but by no means least are some super spy penguins who set out to defend the world against the villainous Dr Octavius Brine in Penguins of Madagascar.

The Basil Brush Show is showing at Artrix on Tuesday 17th February at 11.00 am and 2.30 pm. Tickets cost £14 (£12 under 16s) and £42 for a family ticket. NT Live Encore Treasure Island (12A) is screening on Wednesday 18th February at 2.30 pm. Tickets cost £15 (£12 students and under 16s) Annie (PG) is screening on Sunday 15th and Monday 16th February at 7.30 pm. Penguins of Madagascar is screening on Monday 16th and Saturday 21st at 2.30 pm and there is an accessible screening on Thursday 19th February.

Tickets cost £6.30 (£5.30) or £3.30 for accompanied children under 16 .

And if you’ve ever fancied having a go at stand-up you have a golden opportunity to make your dreams a reality by joining a comedy workshop starting on 9th February at Artrix.

In the company of aspiring local comedians, participants will have five weeks of intensive ‘write and rehearse’ workshops to build skills and bolster confidence. Led by local comedian Theo Theobald, the course will culminate in a performance in front of a live audience so students can confront their stand-up demons.

Theo’s Comedy Skool runs from Monday 9th February to Monday 2nd March from 7.30 to 9.30 pm at Artrix. For further details and all ticket sales contact the box office on 01527 577330 or at www.artrix.co.uk
