Birmingham’s Mostly Jazz, Funk and Soul Festival, which has won praise for its imaginative and eclectic line-ups throughout its short existence, has been named as one of the top music events in the world.

The latest accolade, by the GoEuro travel site at http://blog.goeuro.co.uk/best-jazz-festivals/ sees the festival, which is taking place this weekend, described as number two in GoEuro’s list of ten festivals “guaranteed to jazz up your summer”. Despite only having started in 2010, Mostly is placed alongside legendary and long-established running events such as Ghent, Montreux and the North Sea Jazz Festival, regarded as the biggest in the world.

Mostly, which this year features five-times Grammy award winner Al Mckay with his Earth, Wind and Fire Experience as well as Stax soul legend Mavis Staples as headliners, is praised for the lakeside backdrop of Moseley Park, which the compiler of the list claims “provides the perfect intimate ambiance.”

The Mostley Jazz, Soul and Funk festival takes place in Moseley Park from 11th-13th July. Tickets are still available from www.mostlyjazz.co.uk
