Aliens with a penchant for underwear are topping the bill for events at the Bromsgrove venue this Easter.
The best-selling childrens’ book Aliens love Underpants is being brought to life on stage for the very first time. This fresh and funny production, featuring stunning effects, madcap action and original music will be showing at Artrix on 21st and 22nd April. To celebrate the show coming to the School Drive venue, a friendly alien will be visiting Bromsgrove Library from 10 am to 11 am on 17th April. Children aged 3 to 8 years can take part in activities and storytelling, plus have the chance to win a family ticket to see the show.
Artrix is also holding two activity days for children during the Easter holidays. Little people aged 3 to 10 years can make beautiful spring creations at a drop-in Spring Awakening Crafternoon being held on 14th April. The following day, 15th April, children aged 5 to 10 years are invited to a Wacky Wild West Dynamic Drama Day. The workshop, which involves singing, dancing and drama, will finish with a short show for parents and friends at 4.00 pm in the Studio.
Last but not least, Mr Peabody and Sherman and The Lego Movie will both be screened in the Artrix cinema during the Easter holidays.
Aliens Love Underpants will be showing at Artrix on Monday 21st April at 1.30 pm and 3.30 pm and Tuesday 22nd April at 11.00 am and 2.00 pm. Tickets cost £12.50, £10 each for groups of 10 plus and a family ticket is £46.
The Spring Awakening Drop-In Crafternoon is on Monday 14th April from 12.30 pm to 2.30 pm and costs £1 per child, payable on the day.
The Wacky Wild West Dynamic Drama Day is on Tuesday 15th April from 10 am to 4 pm and costs £30 per child, free for parents.
The Lego Movie is showing on Monday 14th to Thursday 17th April and Saturday 19th April at 2.30 pm. There is an accessible screening on Tuesday 15th.
Mr Peabody and Sherman is showing on Wednesday 23rd to Thursday 24th April and Saturday 26th April at 2.30 pm.
Rising stars of the folk music scene The Roving Crows are looking forward to making an appearance at Artrix later this month. It’s still early days for the band but already the quintet have performed alongside artists such as Kate Rusby, Steeleye Span, Levellers and Bellowhead and entertained crowds at numerous festivals.
The Crows’ unique sound, a blend of Folk, Celtic and Country-Rock, has earned them national airplay on BBC Radio 2 and on many local BBC stations including BBC Hereford & Worcester & Gloucestershire. Famous for their powerful live performances, the band has just been nominated Spiral Earth’s top Live Act of 2014.
The Roving Crows are appearing at Artrix on Friday 25th April at 8.00 pm. Tickets cost £14 (£12).
Gary Delaney thinks that most stand up shows don’t contain enough jokes and is trying single handedly to redress the balance. In his new show Purist, Gary is concentrating purely on jokes and is telling audiences not to expect narrative, themes or voyages of self-discovery.
Renowned for his razor-sharp wit and one-liners, Gary is a regular guest on Mock the Week and has also recently appeared on Dave’s One Night Stand, Comedy Central’s’Comedy Blue and on Channel 4’s Robert’s Web. Purist was a big hit at the Edinburgh Festival, selling out every night and receiving many four and five star reviews.
