Job fair for young people wanting a creative career.
If you’re aged 16 – 24, unemployed, and have ever thought of taking up a career in creative arts, but haven’t know where to go or who to talk to, there’s a chance to find out at the Get Into Creative Employment Fair on Saturday 25th January, 10am – 1pm at The Birmingham REP, in association with Creative Alliance.
All attending the event will find out about the jobs available in theatre, dance, art, music and craft, the recruitment processes involved, and gain advice on how to apply as well as take part in CV and portfolio surgeries.
Newtown-based arts centre the Drum are paying a leading role in the 2014 Creative Employment Programme, supporting the creation of apprenticeship and internship opportunities for young unemployed wanting to pursue a career in the arts and cultural sector. Participants can gain valuable skills and experience to distinguish them to potential employers and help boost the start of their career in the sector.
Internship and apprenticeship opportunities are available with major Birmingham arts organisations including Birmingham Hippodrome, Birmingham Museums Trust, Birmingham REP, Craftspace, DanceXchange and Sampad. The Drum will be offering positions to seven apprentices looking to gain experience in Marketing, Arts Programming, Technical, Finance, Customer Service and Administration, including human resources and working with the Young People & Creative Learning Department.
