Star chef opens charity venture in Bearwood.
No one appreciates a really great cup of coffee, tea, chocolate or Chai latte more than star local chef Steve Love. Steve, whose Birmingham restaurant Love’s has once again been voted into the UK’s top 100, officially opened the new ‘Coffee Junction’ in Bearwood on Wednesday October 9th. Coffee Junction, opposite the Bear Tavern on Bearwood Road, brings a new fresh, Italian feel and family friendly style of café to the community.
Coffee Junction is part of Queen Alexandra College, a National College based in Harborne that offers education, support and training to people with disabilities. It is already achieving the sort of attention given to other local favourites.
The café has already created some excitement for residents of Bearwood and the surrounding area, many of whom have commented that it is great to have somewhere to have a quality cup of coffee in a clean and fresh environment. It has become a social media star on the Bearwood Blog and We Love Bearwood.
Coffee Junction Manager, Ismail Orel was thrilled that Steve Love was able to be at the official launch; “It is a real honour that such a talented chef is willing to take time out of his busy schedule to come and support us today. The funds raised by the enterprise will make a real difference to the lives of our students at QAC and we are really excited about our future here in Bearwood”. Ismail himself has over twenty years experience in the catering industry.”
Steve Love will be running the Great Birmingham Run on 20th October to raise funds for QAC. In addition, Love’s was one of only 25 restaurants outside London to win a National Restaurant Award and was the highest ranking restaurant in Birmingham.
