New date added to venue’s calendar.
Black Country comedy group Fizzog Productions will be bringing their new show, 50 per cent Funnier, to The Public on 13 September as part of a seven-date Midlands tour. Described as ‘a riotous, poignant and nostalgic but most of all, hysterically funny evening of comedy sketches, song and dance’ the not-to-miss show blends Black Country grit with feisty choreography.
Throughout the show the audience will be treated to a hilarious performance by tribute act, FABA, as The Fizzogs take a unique take on legendary Swedish pop act, ABBA. The comedy three-piece, (Sue Hawkins, Deb Nicholls and Jacky Fellows), have teamed up with local writer/producer Ross Berkeley Simpson and Isis Media, to take a hysterical look at a typical crazy working day in the life of a would-be top-line act.
The 50 per cent Funnier show will also features some of the other characters who have attracted widespread acclaim during their previous tours. They include The Corr Corr Girls (their version of the Can Can), Wayne Kerr, Mags and Barb, The Ode Folk and The Kids. The show will be compered by the loveable Barbara Nice (aka former Coronation Street star Janice Connolly).
The Fizzogs are branching out into new territory with this latest venture. The tour itinerary includes Birmingham’s Midlands Arts Centre in Canon Hill Park and Bridgnorth’s Theatre on the Steps, as well as their more familiar Black Country haunts. Sue Hawkins from Fizzog Productions said, “We’ve been popular around the Black Country for quite a few years, gaining global fame in places like Bilston and Brierley Hill! Now we want to branch out a bit to test the reaction of a wider audience. Eventually we want to take our show to the Edinburgh Festival so this will be a good trial run.”
The 50% Funnier Tour takes place on Friday 13 September at 8pm. Tickets are £10 and are available from www.thepublic.com or by calling 0121 533 7161.
