Coventry’s Belgrade Theatre is offering local youngsters aged between eight and sixteen the chance to develop and share their theatre skills at its annual Summer School, which aims to entertain and educate kids during the summer holidays.
Following the success of previous years, the Belgrade will be running two week-long Summer Schools this year. Week one will run at the theatre from 10am to 4.30pm from Mon 29 July to Fri 2 Aug, followed by week two from Mon 12 to Fri 16 Aug from 10am to 4.30pm.
Each week will include a series of different workshops and rehearsals in which the young people will explore movement, voice and acting techniques with creative theatre practitioners from the Belgrade Theatre. The group will work together to devise their own piece of theatre, which they will perform in front of family and friends at the end of the week.
“Summer School was really good for my confidence and helped me to make new friends.”

Janthi Mills, General Manager at the Belgrade said: “Summer school gives young people a positive opportunity to make new friends and develop new skills during the summer holiday period. The young people have a fun and jam packed week creating a short piece of drama they can share with family and friends.”
The cost to take part in the Belgrade Theatre’s Summer School is £120 per child, per week if booked online and £130 per child if booked by phone or in person. A 25% discount is available on second and subsequent tickets when two or more tickets are purchased for the same family. Each week will be a different programme of activities so it is possible for children to attend both, or just one.
