This was the scene on Brighton beach at the weekend as an Azores high brought a welcome break in the drab weather that has beset the country for so long.

Brighton was a sea of bodies as the world and its pals made the most of high temperatures and strong sunshine.

The sea was flat calm and bars and café’s were packed out.
