Birmingham University students have worn their heart on their (unwanted) sleeves this month as they’ve donated over 200 bags of saleable stock to the British Heart Foundation (BHF).
Volunteers from the uni used a spruced-up electric milk float to collect unwanted goods, including clothes, CDs and books from student houses throughout Bournbrook and Selly Oak and will be returning to the areas again from June 25 – 29, between 12 and 4pm.
Catherine Argyle, BHF Stock Generation Manager, said: “So far we’ve collected 232 bags of stock from donation bins on campus and student houses. The milk float is a fantastic way to draw attention to our need for items and will be hitting the streets again from June 25.
“BHF Shops rely on donations of good quality clothing, shoes, accessories, CDs, DVDs, books, toys and bric-a-brac to help the fight against heart disease, so we’re very grateful that the university has continued to support us since our partnership began in 2006.”
As students leave accommodation to head back home for the summer, the nation’s heart charity hopes to see even more bags collected at the end of the month.
