Birmingham residents needn’t worry about the bank holiday upsetting their refuse collections.
Waste and recycling collections in Birmingham are set to carry on as normal during next week’s bank holidays on Monday June 4th and Tuesday June 5th, with council officials making a special plea to householders who will be gardening or doing DIY over the holiday weekend .
The city council has confirmed that residents that usually receive Monday and Tuesday collections should put their waste and recycling out for collection as usual. The pledge to maintain services follows the successful delivery of scheduled waste and recycling collections across the previous bank holidays.
Tommy Wallace, Director of Fleet and Waste Management, said: “It will be business as usual during the Jubilee bank holiday. With most people enjoying two extra days off work, they may be more inclined to prepare their homes for summer by fixing up the garden or doing some DIY. If this is the case we’d encourage people to visit the city’s five household recycling centres. The centres will be open on bank holiday Monday and Tuesday as well as throughout the week until 8pm every evening.”
