The Midlands Racing Club are holding their Grand National Preview on Tuesday 10 April at Stirchley United Working Men’s Club, on the corner of Pershore Road and Hazelwell Lane.
The night will be more of a look back than a preview and this year it will be harking back to 20 years and 40 years ago to celebrate the Grand National victories of Party Politics in 1992 and Well To Do in 1972. In addition to reliving their triumphs on a big screen, the MRC will be joined by both winning jockeys, Carl Llewellyn and Graham Thorner.
The club will also be previewing this year’s Grand National and the major supporting races with one of the BBC’s race commentary team, Darren Owen.
Besides showing other famous Aintree races, there will be several former jockeys among the audience with ample opportunity to ask them about their careers.
There will also be a raffle with some great prizes on offer.
Sponsored by bookmakers JenningsBet, this unique event is not just the only Grand National night in Birmingham, it’s the only one in the Britain to offer such a great mix of nostalgia and preview of what’s to come.
It’s an evening not just for dedicated racing fans but also for those who just want to know which horse to back in the world’s most famous steeplechase.
Doors open at 7.15 for a 7.45 start. The cost is £5 payable at the door.
