A Coventry University professor has been named ‘a titan of the Twittersphere’ by the Independent newspaper as part of its list of the 100 most influential British users of the popular social media site.
Simon Chadwick, who is the world’s first professor of Sport Business Strategy and Marketing, made the paper’s list of top 10 business tweeters, ranking just behind the likes of Sir Richard Branson, Lord Sugar and TV ‘Dragon’ Peter Jones.
Professor Chadwick – whose Twitter ID is @Prof_Chadwick – tweets regularly about the latest issues surrounding the commercial aspects of football, Formula One and sport sponsorship deals, and has amassed over 3,600 followers keen to get an expert opinion on recent developments in the world of sport.
The Independent’s Twitter 100 was calculated with the help of social media monitoring group PeerIndex, and measured the impact of the nation’s top tweeters in three major areas – authority, audience and activity.
Professor Chadwick, in no more than 140 characters, said: “It’s an honour to get the nod in such a prestigious list. Thanks to all my followers and look out for more sporting insight throughout 2012!”
