Mowgli the man-cub, Baloo the bear and Shere Khan the tiger are making their way to Coventry’s Belgrade Theatre for a fun packed performance of The Jungle Book, which will be playing on the Main Stage from Tues 14 to Sat 18 June.
Written by Rudyard Kipling, The Jungle Book tells the story of Mowgli, a young boy who is raised in the jungle by a family of wolves. When Shere Khan, the tiger, swears to kill the child, Baloo, the bear and Bagheera, the panther, agree to take the boy to the man village for his safety. But the jungle holds danger and surprises for them all in this adventure of a lifetime!
This version of Kipling’s classic story has been adapted for the stage by Birmingham Stage Company who are renowned for their high quality children’s productions including Roald Dahl’s George’s Marvellous Medicine and Terry Deary’s award-winning Horrible Histories which have all played at the Belgrade in recent years.
The animal movement for many of the main characters, including Baloo the bear, Shere Khan the tiger and the jungle monkeys, has been directed by top animal expert Peter Elliot who also created and played the apes in hit films including Greystoke, Gorillas in the Mist and Congo.
