Jaguar Land Rover’s popular national graduate recruitment scheme has accepted 13 Coventry University graduates onto roles in Product Development, Manufacturing, IT, Design and Marketing – the highest recruitment rate to this year’s scheme among UK universities.
The Coventry University graduates, all of whom will begin their roles with the Warwickshire-based car manufacturer in September 2011, were selected following a thorough assessment process designed to whittle down over 9000 applications and find the best candidates.
Building on the historically strong relationship between Coventry University and Jaguar Land Rover, the University’s Careers and Employability Service has worked closely with the Tata-owned carmaker since the beginning of the academic year to offer its students and graduates advice and guidance during the recruitment process.
Representatives from different departments at Jaguar Land Rover visited the campus to offer open sessions and presentations to students on how to make the best of their applications, and the University itself put on a series of workshops and one-to-one appointments to help them through their applications.
The resulting interest from Coventry students saw the University representing 6.7% of all applications received by Jaguar Land Rover in this year’s scheme, more than any other UK university.
Seema Tailor, engineering and computing careers advisor at Coventry University, said, “We are very pleased with how the partnership between Jaguar Land Rover and Coventry University has developed this year, and we’re already aiming to build on this success next year to create more exciting opportunities for students with targeted support from the careers team.”
