Wednesday 16th March sees the award-winning Ian Siegal and his band take to the Robin stage. Guitarist Ian followed his Mojo Blues Album of the Year award in 2009 for Broadside (the first time this honour had gone to a non-American artist), with the British Blue Awards band of the year prize twelve months later. Heavily influence by bluesmen of the old school, Ian has played with Pinetop Perkins and the remaining members of the Muddy Waters band, as well as performing at major festivals around Europe. Tickets £12.50

Friday sees the arrival of the most successful British disco band of the seventies, the Real Thing. Reckoned to be the biggest-selling Liverpool band after the Beatles, a night of seventies nostalgia is guaranteed. Tickets £15

On Sunday lunchtime there’s yet another chance to see some of the area’s best unsigned talent in the free acoustic session in Woody’s bar. Later on, The Pineapple Thief will be performing in the main venue. With five albums under their belt, this hybrid of progressive and indie spent much of 2010 playing on the continent, where they performed at several major festivals.

Looking ahead, The Robin is still managing to attract names that wouldn’t normally be seen in a venue this size. Just announced for 28th June is legendary American guitarist Nils Lofgren, while a man for who the word ‘legend’ is probably an understatement, Jack Bruce, has already sold out his show next Tuesday.
