Anti-Nowhere League

On Wednesday night there’s a benefit gig in aid of the Compton Hospice and the British Heart Foundation, featuring local indie/blues band the Limelight. Tickets for this one are £5.

Thursday sees the arrival of the Anti-Nowhere League, who back in the early eighties were the ultimate punk cartoon characters. Loud, obnoxious and yobbish, no-one knew whether the League were serious or not, but they certainly grabbed more than their share of attention, with records being seized by the police under the Obscene Publications Act and Metallica later covering their infamous ‘So What.’

Whether age has mellowed them, or stretched the joke even thinner, you’ll have to find out for yourselves.

Tickets are £10.

There’s an interesting gig for fans of eighties US metal on Sunday 27th February with Adler’s Appetite featuring Steve Adler, original drummer with Guns’n’Roses and now cable TV star. With a band featuring, amongst others, former members of Enuff  Z’Nuff and Quiet Riot, the classic G’n’R album Appetite for Destruction will be played in its entirety. Tickets are £10.
