New restaurant set for Brindleyplace opening

Tex-Mex favourite expands into Birmingham after securing space at Brindleyplace.

A new Tex-Mex restaurant will soon be opening its doors to guests after expanding its business into Birmingham city centre for the first time.

Perios will serve Mexican classics such as tacos, burritos, nachos, as well as American burgers, beef and chicken, with dishes inspired by the seven Perios flavours which form the key ingredients to a versatile and exciting menu.

The 3,150 sq ft restaurant will be opening in a canal side location at The Water’s Edge which was formerly occupied by the Handmade Burger Co, and will become the second location for Perios on the heels of a successful venture in nearby Shirley.

The new restaurant will undergo a refurbishment which will see an extension to the current bar area, where a wide selection of cocktails will be on offer in quirky Mexican-inspired glasses, and will make full use of the interior and exterior seating areas.

Perios is expected to open this summer, depending on Covid-19 restrictions.

Sharath Sundar, Operations Manager at Perios, said: “Perios has been a great success for many years in Shirley, and we felt now was the time to expand our services and bring our taste of Latin America to Birmingham city centre for the first time.

“We felt Brindleyplace was the perfect step for our next location. Birmingham’s famous canal network is on our doorstep and our new space provides us the opportunity to serve fantastic food and drinks in a fun, laid-back atmosphere all year round.”

Stacey Muir, Marketing and Events Executive at Brindleyplace, said: “Perios will be a fantastic addition to Brindleyplace’s varied food and drink offering and will provide an exceptional new experience for those who work and visit the estate.

“Committing to opening at Brindleyplace during these uncertain times shows a great deal of confidence in the estate as a destination where independent businesses working within the leisure sector can thrive in the future.”

Brindleyplace is a fully managed, award winning estate in the heart of Birmingham that attracts more than four million visitors a year to its twenty bars, cafés and restaurants, contemporary art gallery, Ikon, and National SEA LIFE Centre, while being situated on the doorstep of the ICC and the Utilita Arena Birmingham.

The site is also home to a number of blue-chip international businesses including Deloitte, Avison Young and Deutsche Bank, and sits beside Birmingham’s famous canal network.
