Artrix launches Young Volunteers Scheme

Shape your future and be part of a young arts community.

The Artrix arts centre in Bromsgrove is launching a new Young Volunteers Scheme this April. Young people are invited to join Artrix YVS and gain skills whilst representing the Arts Centre.

The scheme will offer young people, aged 16-25 years, a range of arts-based work experience in a variety of roles including Technical & Stage Management, Catering, Box Office & Programming and Ushering.

Artrix duty manager and volunteer co-ordinator Sarah Benfield said: “As well as providing insight and work experience, we also hope to create a community of young people dedicated to shaping how Artrix interacts with, involves, and supports young people in Bromsgrove. We hope that Artrix Young Volunteers will have an enjoyable and rewarding experience and will be proud to represent Artrix.”

One of the long term aims of the scheme is that Artrix’s Young Volunteers will form a steering group, meeting monthly to help inform and improve the way in which Artrix engages with local young people and supports young artists and creatives. The group will also organise and produce an event aimed at young people, using skills they’ve gained whilst on the scheme.

Young Volunteers will work with Artrix staff and have opportunities to attend monthly reviews and staff tutorials to help them progress confidently and reach individual targets and aspirations.

Applications are now open. Potential applicants must be able to commit to a minimum of four shifts per month. For further information or to register interest in getting involved contact Sarah Benfield at sarahbenfield@artrix.co.uk or telephone the box office on 01527 577330.
