Last chance to capture Birmingham and win £1,000 of gear.
Amateur and professional photographers from across the Midlands have just under two weeks remaining to enter a competition to convey Birmingham and what it means to them.
#BrandBrum, launched by branding agency ORB and Retail Birmingham, aims to convey the city in a new light through entries that go beyond the regularly represented landmarks of Birmingham. The competition has already seen a wide range of submissions and by extending the deadline, the partnership hopes to encourage more budding creatives to share their unique take on the city – think people, food, objects and experiences.
The winner will receive £1,000 of photography equipment, courtesy of Retail Birmingham and www.shoppinginbirmingham.com, as well as the chance to work alongside former Sony World Advertising Photographer of the Year Martin Brent.
Judging the competition alongside Brent will be Chief Executive of the Greater Birmingham Chamber of Commerce Paul Faulkner; Co-Founder & Director of Impact Hub Birmingham, Immy Kaur; Retail Birmingham BID Manager, Steve Hewlett; Former Editor of the Birmingham Post, Stacey Barnfield; renowned Birmingham photographer, Verity Milligan and Founder of ORB Branding agency, Rob Bloxham.
Rob Bloxham, Founder of ORB, said: “We’ve been really blown away by the entries put forward for #BrandBrum so far, with many different perspectives and styles coming forward. This project set out to showcase the amazing creativity that we have on our doorstep and what we’ve seen already clearly shows that Birmingham’s creative scene is booming. Now we’re calling for more keen photographers to make their contribution.
“Birmingham means something different to everyone so we’re looking for entries that think outside the box and show us something that we haven’t already seen. Whether it be people, places, objects, local cuisine or experiences, it’s those distinctive entries that will grab our attention.”
As well as the £1,000 of photography equipment vouchers, the winner will be invited to work alongside Martin Brent on a commercial photo shoot, getting the inside track on how to create powerful images for brands that bring their story to life.
To enter, simply upload ten pictures of Birmingham as well as an explanation of the series in no more than 200 words at www.thisisorb.com/brandbrum. The images can be of people, places, landscapes or buildings, but must be of the city. They can be taken on any device, whether it’s a disposable camera, camera phone or a DSLR, all entries are welcome.
The competition is open to both amateur and professional photographers in the West Midlands and closes at midnight on Sunday 2nd October 2016. For more details, visit www.thisisorb.com/brandbrum
