Lichfield Players to hold open day

Charity event hosted by Michael Fabricant MP

The Lichfield Players are launching their new website and fundraising activities for deafblind charity Sense and showing a preview of their next play at a free event open to the public.

The event will take place in the main auditorium of the Garrick Theatre at 12.30 on Saturday 16th January and will last for approximately one hour. The event is suitable for all age groups and will be hosted by Michael Fabricant MP and Touch FM will be reporting live from the Garrick and interviewing Michael as well as any willing guests .

A short video will show the great work that the Lichfield Players nominated charity Sense carries out. Michael will be asking for three volunteers to join him on stage in a panel game that offers the chance for someone to win a prize.

There will be a 15 minute scene from their next play Daisy Pulls It Off by Denise Deegan and is a great opportunity for people new to the theatre and regular theatre visitors alike to see an example of the Lichfield Players in action.

This West End hit, a warm and lively tribute to the girls’ school books of Angela Brazil, tells the story of Daisy, a poor girl from humble parents, who wins a scholarship to the Grangewood School for Young Ladies during the 1920s. It follows her progress as she finds her feet in her new environment and succeeds despite the prejudices of some of the pupils and teachers. Throw in a missing treasure, a mysterious Russian émigré, a hilarious hockey game and a long lost father and you have a story that races along at breakneck speed!

The show which runs from January 20th–23rd is suitable for all ages and sexes and guarantees an evening of fun entertainment for all.

The Lichfield Players Patron Sir Derek Jacobi CBE has sent a special audio message that will be played at the event. Sir Derek has kindly promised to come and see one of the Lichfield Players productions during 2016 and to meet the cast and Season Ticket Holders.

Season tickets offer a saving over the course of the year and also make a great gift for any occasion. They will be available on the day and tickets for Daisy Pulls It Off are available from www.lichfieldgarrick.com or by calling the box office on 01543 412121.

This is a great opportunity to see the latest news from the Lichfield Players whether you are an existing Season Ticket Holder or completely new to theatre. The event is completely free and starts at 12.30 on Saturday 16th January. All are welcome.
