Anniversary event for iconic new wave film.

There’s a chance to meet legendary actress-singer-songwriter Hazel O’Connor as she celebrates the 35th Anniversary of her ground-breaking and timeless film Breaking Glass, with the first ever showing of the digitally re-mastered, uncut version of the film on the big screen at The Glee Club in Birmingham on 6th December.

“This is really exciting,” says Hazel, “it is going to be a very unusual show and I am looking forward to it immensely. Together with my brilliant saxophonist Claire Hirst and pianist Sarah Fisher we will be performing many of the songs from the film as well as other favourites. I am also delighted to have the opportunity for an intimate chat with the audience after the screening – it’s going to be a blast!”

Hazel O’Connor first burst into public consciousness in 1980 playing Kate, the feisty rock singer-songwriter in the cult film. Within months, Hazel – who also composed and performed the film’s soundtrack – had achieved iconic status with the younger generation. The widely acclaimed film won a series of awards and nominations including best actor and best film score for Hazel. A double platinum Breaking Glass album followed with sell-out tours which sent Hazel O’Connor’s career rocketing skywards.
