Sweden comes to Kings Heath

Benjamin Folke Thomas to play the Hare & Hounds.

Birmingham music fans are in for a treat when Swedish singer/songwriter Benjamin Folke Thomas visits the Hare and Hounds, Kings Heath, on Thursday 16 April 2015. The concert will also feature an opening support slot by Dave Burn, whose band Ahab recently went down a storm at the venue.

The Kings Heath gig is part of an eleven-date UK tour which marks the launch of Ben’s latest album Rogue State Of Mind. The album will be on sale at the concert and in record shops from May.

Accompanied by his band, Ben is an electrifying performer whose characterful and resonant vocal style is complemented by highly accomplished finger-style guitar. He is also an inspired and mature songwriter with influences including Warren Zevon, Leonard Cohen and early Dylan.

Although now based in his native Sweden, Ben is no stranger to England. He lived in London for many years and built a substantial following in Britain playing venues large and small throughout the UK as well as festival appearances at Glastonbury, Green Man, Larmer Tree and Cropredy among others.

Last year, Ben travelled to Nashville with legendary radio presenter Bob Harris as part of a BBC Introducing initiative. “Ben can really hold an audience,” Bob says, “so catch his show if you can and enjoy his instrumental virtuosity, sophisticated songwriting, and passionate vocals.”

During the tour Ben will be recording a session for broadcast on Bob’s BBC Radio 2 show.
