Robin rockers

There’s a few shows coming up at the Robin 2 worth looking out for.

On Thursday 4th December there’s a return visit from one of the Robin’s most popular attractions, award-winning blues guitarist Chantel McGregor.

Already one of the most critically-acclaimed musicians in her field, Chantel was not only the first woman to win Blues Guitarist of the Year in the British Blues Awards of 2013, this year she became the first artist to win the award twice in succession. After three years of constant touring with such names as Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Joe Bonamassa, Chantel has been recoding a follow-up to her successful debut album Like No Other and songs from both sets will be aired at the Robin.

The following night sees another returning name, in the form of local legends Magnum.

Incredibly, it’s almost forty years since their debut album Kingdom of Madness started the band on a meteoric rise from support act to arena headliners, with festival appearances and a string of best-selling releases thrown in before the band split in 1995. Now back and working regularly their album On the 13th Day has seen Magnum achieve their highest chart placing in over twenty years

Tickets £20

Then on 15th December there’s a night of festive nostalgia courtesy of Ray Jackson’s Lindisfarne Christmas Show.

Ray was with the Geordie folk rockers throughout their great years, appearing on every studio album during the first twenty years of their existence as they became regulars in the charts and toured the world. The new line-up features musicians from all eras of Lindisfarne and is augmented by former Roxy Music drummer Paul Thompson.
