Funds raised in memory of schoolmate.
Kind-hearted students at Aldridge School are donating more than £3,800 to a handful of charities after a year of fund-raising fun.
Pupils at the Tynings Lane school organised a number of events during the school year to coin in the cash. Acorns Children’s Hospice, the Malawi Build a School project and Save the Children will all benefit from funds. In addition money is being donated to the Ben Sambrook Fund towards The Brain Tumour Charity. Ben, a popular 14-year-old student at the school sadly passed away earlier this year after a brave battle against a brain tumour.
Thanks to pupils on the School Council a host of fundraising events, from bake-offs, sponsored book reads, mufti days, raffles and sponsored silences were held.
Students consolidate fundraising to a few dedicated weeks each year so they can raise money for chosen charities. Gill Morris, deputy headteacher, added: “We encourage all our pupils to think about others and we are delighted that so much money is being donated to charity thanks to the generosity and hardwork of our students.”
